Radioactive Materials

The Radioactive Materials Program performs these duties:

  • Licenses and inspects users of radioactive materials.
  • Administers the Radiation Control Act.
  • Regulates the use of radioactive materials other than at nuclear reactors
  • Acts as primary state responder for incidents involving radioactive materials and radiation exposure at licensed facilities.
  • Acts as part of the emergency response team for incidents at nuclear power plants.
